In the summer of 1998, JV Head Coach, Ron Jacobson, reintroduced the BFS Program to the young athletes on the JV team. A daily lifting routine following BFS guidelines was built into the JV practice schedule. This was a major factor in the JV team s 9-1 record. The message was sent-hard work will pay off. These athletes carried their lifting regimen into the off-season.<br>We knew that we had to do something different in order to compete at this level. We needed to build the athlete s self-esteem and work ethic, not just on the field but also in the classroom. It is our belief that athletics and academics must work together for both to be successful. One thing the three championship teams of  90,  91, and  00 had in common was that the team players excelled in the classroom. The offensive line in  91 had an overall GPA of 3.6 and most of the seniors went on to attend four-year colleges, including West Point, Oberlin and U.C. Davis. This year s team had an overall GPA of 3.4, led by senior quarterback and team MVP Jake Pruitt. Jake had an overall GPA of 3.8 and over a 4.0 during football, while taking honors classes in English, History, and Calculus
