Charniga developed a homemade version of the glute-ham machine after reading an article in a 1971 issue of Strength and Health. Eight years later when he visited Russia, he found that every gym he visited had a glute-ham station, and that the exercise was an integral part of the training of Russian weightlifters.
Charniga's glute-ham bench consisted of a padded car seat nailed to a carpenter's bench. He placed the bench in front of his power rack, and hooked his legs underneath a barbell so he wouldn't tip over. BFS has refined this design, and recently introduced the roller glute-am, an adjustable machine that offers the benefit of a round pad that rotates as the athlete moves.
The window of opportunity an athlete has to achieve optimal performance is all too brief, and it's a shame to see athletes shorten that time even more by suffering from hamstring injuries. Make sure you don't hamstringyourself by overtraining. Instead, work out smart with core exercises, post-stretching and proper technique.@r~lsȍ2vpiTR@*NNf?FoJޠ鍼u$WSDl{?4 ^]MX)kYZܡTI95Ҋ) @ۈ~!@E0b\Nq֐EZp |J(BX>\Z(h{;RP;C' yESra was the absolute strongest, Bruce Wilhelm [the first American to snatch 400 pounds] trained the hardest, Thanh Nguyen had the most natural talent, Ken Clark had the most determination, and Mario Martinez [41 snatch, 513 clean and jerk and a silver medalist in th 1984 Olympics] had the most success.
In addition to developing new talent, Schmitz was also able to rejuvenate the careers of many lifters who [28Dz8Rw8Z]hc#&:$UCptZS[hQ9ۃar~g}eTzJ۫Bq]Ϡ#c5->-ONe%BCuĸ5Mf075Ps q=#e dzS1]O/5~7ڄ>mhH)Dqcy |8+eElhJ@n͢ ֥jkR 6WQأnrb?E귱YdC>v_ 쬬|kWφOxX8?JV;/ܬ=(rHSrB/KO"坋ƣݭ9|Q?٣s>bkaW׭tQJ=\L&!S.K/z}(3M],43_40Ҋ_͂SeraC6@IqҦrzU@ݿʪCW1N%iJU2rz:vQ ϵzS xrIy#1Mc}]oJdE쎔5q£(4i tc\lI8tt;҄9q?vEv쎔fg3r J"_&|;i&p2 ? ;Kjir'keFp:j.a+rpGpBEJc(f?GJOEQcG8;Gw"8􀭝?O"sEH4h)0E8hàZ뎞=)E3HiE'ӊLTQ&:T~ %i UB@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=J>=Jz 6A@~=dmڀ(z _AWvj6mGIammKQWvj(h(((((((((((((J(hJ(hJ(hJ(hJ(hJ(hng Patera, Wilhelm and Cameron, he also coached John Bergman (396 snatch, 496 clean and jerk) and Tom Stock (391 snatch, 490 clean and jerk).
